Professor of the EGE-University Food Engineering Department visits our faculty

Encouraging collaborations and research exchange between universities are the main objectives of the ERASMUS + exchange programme. It was our pleasure to host the stay of

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahsen Rayman Ergun from the Food Engineering Department of EGE University, Turkey at the faculty of Life Sciences last week.

It was a great opportunity to get an insight in the research activities of Ahsen Ergun related to novel food processing technologies for fruit and vegetables such as electroplasmolysis, ultrasound and microwave technology. Students from the B. Sc. programme Food, Nutrition, Hygiene as well as students from the M.Sc. programme Facility and Process Design got a deeper insight, also into EGE-University. Hopefully, this has encouraged a study stay abroad in one of the next semesters :) !

Further tours through our laboratories and research facilities – from the microbiology and food safety lab (Prof. Drissner), to the Sustainable Packaging Institute (A. Kleiner), to the lab for food processing and sensory analysis (Prof. Klingshirn, Lilla Brugger, S. Linke-Pawlicki) to the innovation campus (Prof. Maier-Nöth) allowed for a deeper insight into the competencies of the involved parties, thus showing some potential for future cooperation.

We are looking forward to a possible future visit of Ahsen Ergun and the further exchange!
